We extend a warm and cordial welcome to our Church which is a Community of Faith. We are very happy to have you worship with us or visit the various activities of our Church throughout the week. We pray that your experience is or will be a positive one where Christian Fellowship and serious approach to worship, study and mission are made. We pray that the peace of God's presence will be your experience among our Church Family.

Our History

The Church was gathered as a congregation on March 9th 1924 by 24 visionary persons of faith under the name Langley Avenue Congregational Church. In 1926 it became the Michigan Avenue Congregational Church. In November 1928, the congregation purchased the present edifice and became what we are known today.

We are and African American Congregational Church of the United Church of Christ. The UCC is a union of four denominations (Christian, Reformed, Congregational & Evangelical) founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1957.

The Church of the Good Shepherd in an inclusive Church with a metropolitan membership. It has provided distinguished leadership through civic, political, judicial, cultural and educational channels. many of our members have served in prominent, high profile positions in the city and state. The Church has always been a socially active Church as an expression of personal faith.

The brightness continues in this our 80th year.
